Anchor Programs

1. Monroe Museum History Contest

The Museum invites 8th grade students and teachers from Monroe-based schools to select a topic on the history of Monroe that fits within the theme, research the topic, and collect photos and facts for writing a one-page essay. The contest begins in August and ends in late October.

2. Summer Intern Program

This program provides a rising High School Junior, Senior, or College student a summer internship in the history museum industry. The internship is a project-based learning experience that offers the following

opportunities:

* Exposure to the 'collections' department of a museum utilizing local history artifacts for project content

* Development of technical skills on Past Perfect — Collections Management Software

* Life Skills: self-initiated work, organizational skills, time management, and reporting

Field Trips, Walking Tours, and other programming round out the summer experience.

3. Newcomer's Luncheon 

An invitation-only event introducing newcomers to Monroe / Walton County. Invitees are introduced to the museum and share a picnic lunch for the whole family.
